samantha pearce - sydney child photographer

Hi, Welcome to my blog.    I am a children's and family photographer located in the Hills District of Sydney, Australia.  I shoot 'on location' either at your home or another location.  I shoot using natural light. I love capturing children's joy for life, their beautiful pure souls.  I like to think we have some fun in the process too.  I photograph children of all ages.  I also photograph families capturing the love, fun and connections in a natural way.

On the blog you can keep up to date with my latest shoots and what is happening in my day to day life with my own family.  I have four children myself, 2 boys and 2 girls.  Life is certainly busy and full of love, fun, cheekiness, tantrums, toys! and happy hearts!

You can access my main website by clicking the link above here.  Under the 'info' tab you can find details on my pricing, packages and what to expect from a shoot with me.  I have just added in some new package pricing, that include some or all of your digital negatives.  These are a great way to save off the ala carte prices.  Session fees are also built in to the package pricing.

I love sharing my work and love reading comments, so please don't be shy.   Thanks so much for visiting!

Sam

my two babies

My last year with these two at home.  My little man Jace,  is off to kinder next year, so I’m going to make the most of enjoying this time with him.   The big kids went back to school last week, so these two are enjoying some time together, they really are great friends.  Funny to see how the kids pair off with each other.   Latest toy craze in our house, Magnomen.   Javan my eldest was very jealous that Jace had a rare one in his tin, the black emperor.   Lucky Jace!  I shot these at my Mum’s house.  My mum is a bit (a lot!) of a photography buff too, and she just bought a new lens, so I was having a play too.   It is the 180mm macro L prime, looks to be very nice!

Shannon - So fun -- these moments last such a short time.

Bree - They are absolutely beautiful Samantha! You must be stocked! x

Charity give away time again.

Last year I ran a fundraiser of sorts to raise money for the Victorian Bushfires, you might remember.    I am wanting to do something like this each year, my way of giving back, with the help of some wonderful clients.   It feels good to be able to use my photography in a postive way like this, and made even better by working with another family to do so.     This year I’ve chosen a cause that has been weighing on my mind.   So many of us have been taken up this last couple of weeks and the next week to come, with our children heading back to school.    I’ve found it a bit tough to buy all the things that go along with that, such as new uniforms, bags, shoes, equipment etc etc.    I have been thinking about the children and families that must find this time of year such a stressful time.    The Smith Family are running a ‘Back to School Appeal’ at the moment.    I would like to find some clients who would love to get involved with me on this and donate to help some disadvantaged kids at this time of year.

So, what I’m offering is my package B at the discounted price of $500.    By your donation of $500 you will recieve the photoshoot for you and immediate family, 10 gift prints (5×7 or 8×10)  and 10 full res digital files from your shoot.    That is 20 images potentially.    I’m offering 4 sessions.    On The Smith Families website it explains what the following donations will provide:

  • Primary school students = $27/month or $324/year
  • Junior secondary students = $35/month or $420/year

4 x $500 donations will potentially go towards helping 4 students through school for a year.   What a wonderful thing we could offer.   I hope that there are others out there willing to meet me halfway with this again this year.   I had such a great response last year and met some wonderful families.   We got some great images.   Here is a sample of some of the  photos from last years charity fundraiser for the Vic Bushfires Relief, from which $1100 was donated!  Thank you again to everyone involved with that!

  • If you are interested in taking up this offer, please leave a comment here first, then email me via the contact form at top of page for confirmation that there is still a place available.  It is first in with this.

  • Here are the details again of what is on offer,   1 Package B at the discounted price of $500.    Comprising of  sitting fee,  photoshoot, 10 gift prints and 10 full resolution digital files on disc.   Files can be same or different to the prints.    so potential for 20 images in total from shoot.

  • offer is for immediate family only (parent/s and children)  and you must be able to travel to me for the shoot.  I am located in the North west of Sydney city.

  • Once your place has been confirmed you can then follow this link to The Smith Family – Back to School Appeal and then email me the receipt of your $500 donation.

a magical, musical day

We had our Mouse Ink shoot yesterday.  A marathon effort from everyone involved and I want to say a big thank you to all!  Esp the kids, you did so well!  I can’t show any photos yet, but I couldn’t resist putting up just this one preview.   Something about this shot I just love, it has a ‘promise of things to come’ feel to it I think.   Can’t wait to see the images in the finished products, it is all going to look beautiful.

Robyn Geering - gorgeous, can't wait to see them all.

Shannon - wonderful image -- so caught between being a kid and striving for more.

Tine - love the warm tones!!! a FAB fab image!

sampearce - Thanks! I had so much fun on this, can't wait to show more either!

gah! missed two days!

I think I might have quit??  Will see how I go.  I might just try and extend the whole thing, but make it more of a inspirational moment.   I want to take more of my kids.  I want to get out and do more with them.   And I’ll be waiting for the moment to find me.   Actually this is how the challenge has been going for me this month.  Each day I haven’t really wanted to do it, but then a magic moment would find me.    So I guess, nothing has the past two days.   Will wait for the magic to show itself again soon.    so seeing as I have no shots from past 2 days I’ll show you some more I took on day 11.   my brother and his family are moving up to Qld soon.   We will miss them, and I know the kids will miss their cousins.   My eldest son said he would miss their Wii…. !    At least they’re honest!   They will have a great lifestyle up there near the ocean, I wish we could go too.    I asked my neices and nephew to let me take some out by the green wall too.   Can’t get over how big they’ve become!   Hopefully I’ll have some more to share soon.   I am looking forward to my first commercial job on Saturday, shooting for Mouse Ink in Melbourne.    All very exciting!

Cousins :)

and lucky last, the two babies.  I had a bit of fun playing with this shot.   Added a texture too it.   Any clients out there that may be reading, do you like the textured shots?  I don’t really do them for clients as I think they might be too much.   Maybe I should add a few in with galleries to see what people think.   I like them, but they can be tricky to print sometimes.    And I’m not sure how long they will look ‘current’.    And speaking of clients, I’m sending get well wishes to Carly, hope you are feeling better very soon.

Kris ElBayeh - Love how your photos are full of sunshine Sam and what a beautiful family you have. I cant wait till Sat either as my daughter got called in for your casting call. Im very excited about that !

Samantha - I know Kris! I saw that you mentioned it earlier but I didn't have a chance to comment back. That is so great, but nerve wracking at the same time! Let's do a stay away rain dance for Saturday! location has big verandah's so worst comes to worst we'll be using those. your daughter is gorgeous, looking forward to meeting you all!

Sharon Mallin - Definitely dont quit :) These are so natural and beautiful. You are doing fabulously and capturing natural/real emotion.

Kris ElBayeh - Will do that stay away rain dance for you for sure. Sounds like its going to be a big job for you with all those kids but you will be great! I will only have my daughter with me so free to help in any way if you need another pair of hands for anything.

Samantha - Thanks Sharon! I can feel the inspiration building again :) Hopefully I'll have tons of it for tomorrow! Kris, will be great to have an extra pair of hands. I think there will be 8 kids or so there. Weather wasn't too bad today, lets hope for same tomorrow. See you there!

day 11

Sabrinah has taught our budgie, Jackie, a cute trick.   He only really does it for her.   She says peek a boo and each time she flips her hands out he will flutter his wings.  It is sooo cute!   Each time she does it she will say ‘peekaboo!!’  so now he says peekaboo as well.   He also says pretty bird, watcha doin’  and he wolf whistles.    They are the cutest pets.   We let him out of the cage, but he doesn’t really like it.  Happier in his cage with his girlfriends in the mirrors.

peek a boo

and one more for today as well, Miss Tatia showing off her beautiful artwork.   which is apparently a carebear

tatias drawing

Shannon - love these -- the bird is so beautiful, and the artwork well we can see she is going to be an artist like her Mom!

Adam Cavanagh - Really gorgeous work!

Samantha - thanks so much! I've been a bit slack at keeping this going. Will try a bit harder! Adam, nice to see some new faces commenting. Your work is amazing! Thank you.

day 10

sleeping beauty this day.    She asked me to set up the travel cot in the lounge room and been playing cubby houses in there.   She got sleepy and asked for her bottle, hopped in the travel cot and fell asleep.  In amongst all the noise of the lounge room.   So sweet.  I love how she is hugging her bottle.    She lost one the other day, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to wean her off them.    she was so sad though, that I felt bad and gave her one again.  lol  push over

I have a shoot coming up on weekend and I’ve been thinking of props I might be able to use.   I saw these on the net, tissue pom poms.  I love them, so pretty.   You can buy them on etsy, but they are so expensive.   So I thought I’d try and make my own.  If you go to Martha Stewart you can find the instructions to make them, pretty easy.   I need to make mine more spiky though.   I think they will be nice for birthday parties too.

IMG_0721

Shannon - Beautiful images, just love sleeping children, they are so peaceful.

karin - The tissue pom poms are so cute. Off to google making them.

day 9……….let’s come way down the creative ladder today

I got an iPhone!  woohoo, it is so much fun.  I’ve watched all my friends one by one get one, and when my sister!  finally got one as well, that was the last straw.    So I finally let peer group pressure get the best of me.    but ooh so much fun!  do you have one?   I have downloaded a few apps, a couple of games for the kids.   I have to wrestle the phone from them, they have used it more than me.   I also got a couple of phone apps.   Shake it photo and Best camera.    So my photo of the day today………..  is me sitting on the lounge trying to figure the phone out and my two girls watching cartoons.   Two cute little profiles.   I promise I’ll keep trying to find some creativity for future days.

IMG_0011[1]

Renee Bell - yay - go the iphone... I always have to wrestle mine from Liana too

cazz - YIPPEE! I LOVE my iphone too!

Sharon Mallin - Congrats on the new phone!

Shannon - so fun -- I still do not have an i phone but I don't know that I will.

Meaghan Cook - You'll NEVER look back. Love that app you've used. x

Samantha - Thanks! I am in love, seriously. I know that you can fall in love with technology, as I love my camera and lens also. Why did I wait so long to get one? It is going to help organise my life so much. :)

and this is how I’m thinking I’ll print them

I think I will get these as square canvases for my lounge room.   They will look so nice together.   My four……….all together…….all four

karin - Love these photos of your kids. Please show a photo of the canvases when you order them!

marika - Very very nice. They will look gorgeous!! :)

Leanne / h&b - Oh my GOSH, you so SHOULD ! Perfect, perfect, perfect posing for framing, and that light, THAT LIGHT, your processing, just everything ... oh, I am in love ! Perfect xx

Peta - So beautiful. Lovely light and lovely subjects. They are going to look stunning on your wall.

Sharon Mallin - Yes, definitely do that. These are DIVINE!!!

Shannon - LOVE THEM -- I agree they will look amazing together!

Samantha - It is so great to see so many new people commenting in here! I have a huge grin on my face. Thank you! And I will definately be getting these as canvases. I'm thinking smaller squares would be nice. I just have to save the money now. I'll be sure to put up a shot of the finished products once I have them :)

day 8

After all the creative release of those last few days, I was a bit washed out for this day.   The kids and I had been over to visit my mother and I didn’t take my camera.    However on the way home, I saw this old blue chair on the side of the road.   I stopped the car and made Javan carry it home on his lap!  mean mother I am.   I loved the colour and any old beat up chair gets me excited.   However once I had a good look at it, one part of a leg was snapped.  So not a safe prop and I couldn’t keep  (come to think of it, I just realised that someone else has taken it from my nature strip today too, lol!  too funny  I wonder if it was another child photog driving past my house?)   I did get one shot with it though.   so there, inspiration came at last.

Blog7

oh and btw,  when we were out with my mother, she bought my daughter a lip pencil.   I drew the heart on her cheek, and she coloured her lips in.  so that is why they are very very pink!

Renee Bell - awwww nice chair... shame it couldnt be fixed :-(

Shannon - love this image and the color -- agree who knows what we will do for a good chair.

day 7….

he was prewarned for two days this was coming.   He is so self conscious my big boy.  and it is hard to get a natural photo of him without him making some really uncomfortable face.    He let me take a total of five photos, lol.    I thought I’d keep the hat theme going with him.    I think he is just so handsome.   I love him so much, he is very sweet and sensitive.   I hope he can learn to believe in himself a bit more and not worry so much what others think of him.   I see myself so much in him, he has my nature.     This is a big year for both of us, he turns 10 and I turn 40.   How on earth did that happen??   doesnt’ seem so long ago he was my teeny newborn.

Blog7

cazz - My big boy turned 10 recently...it happened so quickly. He looks like such a sweet, gentle boy...beautiful shots of him.

Shannon - that second one just melted my heart. Love the processing on these!
